Robert Pattinson to Play ‘The Batman’ for Matt Reeves and Warner Bros.

Sources tell Variety that Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to play “The Batman” in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero film, which hits theaters June 25, 2021.

While sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly. Warner Bros. had no comment.

Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels, assumed “Batman” directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017. Reeves will produce “The Batman” with his “Planet of the Apes” collaborator Dylan Clark.

Pattinson was cast even as Reeves continues to polish a final version of the script.

UPDATE: Deadline is reporting the deal isn’t done with Pattinson being top of the cast list alongside Nicholas Hoult. The Wrap claims neither are close to finalized.

Pattison 100% turned his image around. Had this been announced closer to the Twilight films I’m sure the entire world would have groaned. But he’s done a great job distancing himself from that franchise and showing he’s a fine actor with excellent taste. This seems a little left of field but I’m also really on board for this. – GeekdomMovies
