Venom 2 | Andy Serkis confirms Sequel Director

Film is expected for 2020

The announcement came shortly after Tom Hardy , protagonist of the first film, heated up rumors of the director’s appointment with an Instagram post.

Serkis is best known for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies , as well as playing Snoke in the new Star Wars and Caesar trilogy in the Monkey Planet franchise . His directorial work includes  Mogli: Between Two Worlds and a Reason to Live .

Fifty Grayscale screenwriter  Kelly Marcel  and the first film are working on the screenplay, but there are no details about the story yet. Tom Hardy is expected to return to the lead role, along with  Michelle Williams  and  Woody Harrelson , who will play the villain Carnage.

During the release of news on its calendar, Sony set the date of October 2, 2020 for the premiere of a Marvel movie. The studio has not yet confirmed what will be the production, but the biggest bet is that will be the sequence of  Venom .
